SAMUEL GAER serves as NYMEX's Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer. He joined the Exchange in March 2003 as chief information officer after the Exchange purchased the assets of TradinGear.com, the trading systems developer that he founded in 1999.
In 2004, he was elected global co-chairman of the global derivatives committee of FIX Protocol Ltd., a non-profit organization that owns the intellectual property rights of the Financial Information eXchange protocol, a globally recognized messaging standard.
In Febrary 2005, he was appointed chief executive officer of NYMEX Europe Holdings Limited.
Mr. Gaer has been involved with the commodity futures industry since 1982, when he was 15 years old, starting as a clerk on the trading floor of the Commodity Exchange, Inc. He continued working on the floor each summer until his graduation from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1988.
Mr. Gaer became a member of COMEX in 1988 and began a 10 year career on the COMEX trading floor.
Mr. Gaer left the trading floor in 1998 to devote more time to the development of trading software, and later founded TradinGear. |
